After much speculation, dealerships can finally see what Google Cars is all about via their beta version for the San Francisco area at www.google.com/cars. No inventory will display unless you are actually within the San Fran area. However, the site is very much alive and will most likely spread nationwide fairly quickly. The question still remains, “How will this affect my dealership?” As with all things Google, we can anticipate that your content within your vehicle ads will become extremely important. If you haven’t already, now is the time to write custom, detailed descriptions for every unit in your inventory.
Shoppers will be able to search for cars in their location by year, make, model, price, etc. The results page will display matching vehicles within the area from participating dealers. When a shopper finds a car that sparks their interest, Google Cars allows users to create anonymous email addresses and phone numbers for the purpose of contacting the dealership. More than ever, response time will be critical as this anonymous information associated with the lead will expire.
It is not known at this time if dealerships will need to pay for this service. We here at Auction123.com will keep you in the loop as we learn more!
